Senate Birthdays

Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow easily won reelection in 2006 and, with Democrats finally having control of the Senate, there's a much better chance that Americans will now get to see results on the tireless work Stabenow has done on issues such as improved equipment for emergency first-responders.

Stabenow tried multiple times in the previous, do-nothing GOP Congress to get legislation passed that would fund items such as modern communications equipment for police and fire fighters -- only to see those measures killed by Republicans every time.

With Harry Reid in charge of the Senate now, those good deeds stand a much better chance of coming to fruition.

Senator Stabenow celebrated her 57th birthday on Sunday and we wish her many happy returns.
