BuzzFlash's GOP Hypocrite Of The Week

I can't let you start the weekend without checking out BuzzFlash's "GOP Hypocrite Of The Week." This week, despite the usual grueling process to narrow the selection to just one Republican hypocrite, it's Laura Bush.

An excerpt:

Sometimes, it's just so damn hard picking a Republican hypocrite. I mean, we could go a full year just selecting members of the Bush extended family. Well, how about if we narrow that down further and just spend a few months on the Bush women?

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, we had Barbara and Laura in open competition for who could appear to be a bigger bigoted nitwit while feigning compassion. But we chose to bypass Barbara's remarks about how much the poor black folks from New Orleans must be enjoying their vacation in the Houston Astrodome.

After all, Barbara lets you know, with a wink and a nod, that she'd cut the chain on the slave ships and let all the human cargo sink into the ocean -- "Amistad" style -- if she could. So maybe she's not a hypocrite; she's just being her tactless, crude, plantation-wife self.

As for Laura, we went with her. Okay, maybe you might argue, she's not a hypocrite either because she has a radio receiver in her head and just says what Karl Rove transmits to her. And maybe it's true that she proves the old sexist cliché that behind every brainless man is a brainless woman.
