Cindy Sheehan Arrested

The Associated Press is reporting that anti-war movement leader Cindy Sheehan was arrested in Washington, D.C. this afternoon. She was arrested as she rallied with other protesters across the street from the White House and after she marched to the gate of the executive mansion to request a meeting with President Bush.

According to a spokesman for the U.S. Park Police, which has purview over the area, Sheehan was arrested without incident along with about 370 protesters. They were charged with demonstrating without a permit, a misdemeanor.

Sadly, the goofiest quote of the story comes from one of the people protesting against Sheehan and whose husband died in Iraq last year.

"I would like to say to Cindy Sheehan and her supporters: Don't be a group of unthinking lemmings," said Mitzy Kenny of Ridgeley, W.Va. "It gives the enemy hope."

"Unthinking lemmings?" Pot, meet kettle.
