Yesterday Was Also a Good Day Because...

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger – I still have a hard time saying that with a straight face – got a vivid display of exactly how little political capital he has left, when all four of his “reform” initiatives were rejected by voters yesterday.

"Usually politicians can find some silver lining. There is no silver lining tonight for Arnold Schwarzenegger," said Tony Quinn, co-editor of the California Target Book, a publication tracking state campaigns. "Arnold was completely repudiated by the people of California."

With his initiatives -- which sought to hurt teachers, undermine unions, cut social programs and redistrict the state -- going down in flames, Schwarzenegger will leave soon for a planned trip to China, where the majority of Californians are hoping he remains through the end of his term.
