Setting Bush Straight – Again

I sometimes look at the things George W. Bush says and I don't know if he says them because he's simply so dumb that he doesn't understand the context of what he's saying or if he's so delusional that he actually believes this stuff.

Here he is at the White House on Tuesday, discussing Reauthorization of the USA PATRIOT Act and castigating those against allowing it to continue as-is.
"And now, when it came time to renew the act, for partisan reasons, in my mind, people have not stepped up and have agreed that it's still necessary to protect the country. The enemy has not gone away -- they're still there. And I expect Congress to understand that we're still at war, and they've got to give us the tools necessary to win this war."
Yeah, it's for partisan, political reasons, Mr. President. It couldn't possibly be that Congress is finally getting a clue that you and your motley crew have twisted this country almost beyond recognition and that it's time to stop you, could it?

And there he was yesterday at the Pentagon acting like it hasn't been years since he abandoned the real war on terror.
"I said after September the 11th we would do everything in our power to bring justice to the enemy that attacked the American people, and I meant it. And part of chasing down the Taliban and al Qaeda is to find them where they hide. And just like in Iraq, we're going to have our special forces stay on the hunt."
So you have to wonder why Osama bin Laden is still free, 1,571 days after the president first said he would get him dead or alive. And why, after all this time and all this money spent, al Qaeda is still operating in 60 countries throughout the world.

So much for Mr. Bush's famous resolve.
