Delusional Jean Schmidt On Hardball

Following Paul Hackett's narrow loss in Ohio, in which our side just missed throwing a bucket of water on the anti-choice/NRA witch who barley won, Republican Jean Schmidt appeared (once again) detached from reality on MSNBC's Hardball last night.

Schmidt said this when asked by host Chris Matthews if the horror of the last couple days in Iraq -- and the heavy human toll Ohio in particular has paid -- is making the war less popular in her state:

“Our freedom is not free. There is a cost to it.... Having said that, the people really want us to stay the course and finish the job. We've planted the seeds of democracy and it would be irresponsible for us to leave now. We're on the right track. We're on the right course. I think that the finish line is in sight and we just have to stay the course.”
Is that anything like the insurgency being in its “last throes” as Vice President Cheney once said?

Does Ms. Schmidt have any clue, through her robotic, talking-points haze, that we have lost 21 United States Marines in Iraq in just the last 72 hours?

Congratulations, Southern Ohio – you picked yourselves a real winner.
