Miscellaneous Weasel Watching

McClellan by the numbers...

Here's the number of times White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan used the following phrases/talking points in the Monday and Tuesday press briefings:

  • "an ongoing investigation" 14
  • "war on terrorism" or "war on terror" 10
  • "[live in/spread/defend/advance] freedom" 7
  • "...not going to speculate" 5
And the Yellow Dog Blog nominates this as the top moment for stifled, pee-in-the-pants laughter around the briefing room:
Q: Scott, a couple of years ago, you told us that Scooter Libby and Karl Rove had nothing to do with the CIA leak... Can we be confident that when we hear statements from the White House in public that they are truthful?

McClellan: I think you can because you know that our relationship is built on trust, and I have earned that trust with you all.
Now that's funny!
