Rove Indicted Soon?

Yes, all the liberal blogs are buzzing about a strong Beltway rumor that Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald is about to hand down a total of 22 indictments in the outed-CIA agent Valerie Plame case – and one of them will be hand delivered to Bush's Brain, Karl Rove.

Here's the prolific John Aravosis at AMERICAblog citing the change in tone by Rove's attorney, Robert Luskin, in less than a week:

Just last Friday, Rove's lawyer said Karl wasn't a target - now 5 days later, "no comment"

Last Friday:

"Not quite a year ago, I received oral and written assurances from the counsel that Karl is not a target of the investigation," Rove attorney Robert Luskin said Friday. "There is nothing I am aware of in the matters that have come to light since then that would change that."

Tonight:

Rove's attorney, Robert Luskin, declined to say whether his client had been contacted by Fitzgerald. In the past, Luskin has said that Rove was assured that he was not a target.

Believe it or not, The Dog has a D.C. source as well who says “this may be nothing, but it has the look and feel of something that's about to really happen.”

I was lucky enough to be with a wonderful group of fellow bloggers last Friday – I'm lookin' at you, Dave Johnson and Bob Brigham – drinking toasts to the DeLay indictments.

While the Rove thing is all still a rumor, I think I'll start chilling the Mumm's Extra Dry right now.
