Monday Poll Dancing
A Washington Post-ABC News Poll released today and conducted April 6-9, shows that only 38 percent of Americans approve of the job George W. Bush is doing as president. Democrats.com is investigating reports that the same 38 percent also believe that SpongeBob Squarepants is gay and that Pat Robertson should have replaced Andrew Card as Bush’s Chief of Staff.
This is Bush’s poorest showing ever in this particular poll, which also showed that 47 percent of respondents “strongly disapprove” of his overall handling of the presidency.
Other poll lowlights:
- 62 percent disapprove of Bush’s handling of both the situation in Iraq and health care and 61 percent think the president is wrong on immigration issues.
- When asked which party they trust “to do a better job in coping with the main problems the nation faces over the next few years,” 51 percent say Democrats and only 37 percent still trust Republicans to govern effectively.
- A 58 percent majority of respondents say that “considering the costs to the United States versus the benefits to the United States” the Iraq war is not worth fighting – with almost half of Americans feeling “very strongly” that the war is just flat-out wrong.
