Random Weekend Notes

My buddy, Cliff Schecter, checks in with some thoughts on Iraq War Daddy, Paul Wolfowitz, and how he's sliming up the joint at the World Bank. Please pay a visit to Cliff's place to read more.

Cliff also tells us that conservative pundit Tucker Carlson is getting ready to host... a game show? You're kidding, right, Cliff? No, he's not.

Blatant Book Plug: I just picked up a copy of "This Moment on Earth: Today's New Environmentalists and Their Vision for the Future" by Senator John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry and, while I have just started reading the book, it looks quite good.

"John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry have written a book that that is a profound challenge to all of us," Al Gore has said about it.

This is the kind of book we should applaud our elected representatives for writing and it's certainly devoted to one of the critical issues of our time. Please read more reviews and comments at Amazon.com and consider picking up a copy.

CNN's Jack Cafferty led his segment on The Situation Room yesterday with Glenn Greenwald's Salon piece called "The Bush Administration's terrible luck with finding documents." Bloggers are truly beginning to get recognized by the corporate media for doing some good reporting and writing -- and it's good to see.

You can view the clip at Crooks and Liars.

Unfortunately, I'll end on the sour note of another day of violence in Iraq... Word comes in early this morning, U.S. time, that a car bomb in the Shiite holy city of Karbala has killed at least 37 people.

Yeah, let's just keep extending our troops in this hellhole.
