Highlights Of Webb-Reid Press Conference

Here's a short video clip showing some of the statements made today in a press conference by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Jim Webb (D-VA) in support of Webb's legislation that will limit how quickly the Bush administration can send troops back into combat after they have returned home from Iraq or Afghanistan.

Senator Reid:

“The war in Iraq is headed in a dangerous direction. The last three months of President Bush's surge have been the deadliest of the war. Democrats, military experts and the American people know that the president's current strategy is not working"

Senator Webb:

"This is an amendment that needs to pass regardless of what we're doing in the future in Iraq…. Whether people are supporting the Iraq war for the next five years or whether they want to be out in four months, this is something that needs to be done for the health of the military and for the health of our troops."
