Boxer Joins Feingold on Bush Censure

Given her strong credentials as a proud liberal and a fighter, this was like waiting for the other shoe to drop, but Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) has announced that she will join Russ Feingold (D-WI) in voting affirmatively on the resolution to censure George W. Bush for his illegal domestic spying program.

"Senator Boxer has said she will vote for the Feingold resolution," said Boxer press secretary Natalie Ravitz.

As of today, Feingold has been joined by only two other Senators with the courage to go up against the Bush White House – Boxer, who also signed on as a cosponsor of the resolution (S.RES.398) and Tom Harkin (D-IA) who announced his support last week.

My not-so-bold prediction on who will be the next to support Feingold: In no particular order, Lautenberg, Kerry, Kennedy and Sarbanes – take it to the bank.

The Senate is officially in recess for one week. Perhaps that will give some of Feingold’s Democratic colleagues a chance for a lengthy look in the mirror and a serious gut-check.
