Greetings From Mexico City

I landed in Mexico City yesterday for four days of business and enjoyed a wonderful night out with a local coworker and his wife. So far, when people find out I’m American and comment on George W. Bush’s Mexico visit slated for the end of March, they sport a facial expression like they just ate tainted clams and say things like “muy malo,” “estupido” – kind of speaks for itself – and “tonto,” which was a new one on me.

But given that they seem to have a firm grasp of who occupies our White House at the moment, I feel very much like I’m back home with the 60 percent of my countrymen who feel the same way about him.

I’ll still be writing while I’m here and, if any occasions arise, I’ll try to throw in some Mexican flavor.
