Missouri Tough Guy Spits on Jane Fonda

A Vietnam Veteran waited in line at a book signing in Kansas City yesterday and, when he got to the front of the line, spit tobacco juice into the face of Jane Fonda. Michael Smith, 54, said he did it as a “debt of honor” based on Fonda's opposition to the Vietnam war and her wartime visits to Hanoi.

A couple of points from a fellow Veteran, Mikey: While I know it takes a real man to spit in the face of a 67-year-old woman, you may want to consider that the vast majority of Americans agree that Fonda was quite prescient in her views and dead right about the Vietnam war.

Second, I'd like you to redirect some of that ancient anger you have obviously nurtured all these years toward someone who has actually committed acts of dishonor against soldiers and Veterans – namely, George W. Bush.

Bush has the blood of 1,500 soldiers on his hands from the Iraq war and is chief executive of an administration that has consistently crapped on Veterans and ignored the funding we need.

Take a look at the budget for the next fiscal year, soldier, and then do something constructive with that rage.
