What??? Nebraska Newspaper Calls For DeLay To Step Down

My home state of Nebraska consistently ranks among the top four or five reddest states in the country in terms of percentage of votes given to Republican presidential candidates. (No wonder the chant for our beloved Nebraska Cornhuskers is 'Go Big Red'.)

So I have not expected much from Nebraska when it comes to insightful news analysis and thoughtful editorials on Team Bush. But, much to my surprise, the Lincoln Journal Star has called for Tom DeLay to step down as House Majority Leader.

Citing the fact that "his lack of respect for principles and ethics is showing," the Journal Star also points out how incorrect DeLay is in his criticism of "activist judges" in the Terri Schiavo case.

I know, I know, Lincoln is a college town so this is probably the most un-conservative paper in Nebraska. But the DeLay people have got to worry when even red-state editorial writers seem to finally be getting it right.
