Congressman Harold Ford Jr. Files for Tennessee Senate Bid

As we have seen with this week's filibuster drama – and the extent to which many of us believe we have simply delayed a total takeover by Republicans – the 2006 Senatorial elections are looking very large indeed.

Good news for our side as Congressman Harold Ford Jr. has filed his paperwork to run for the Senate seat being vacated by Majority Leader Bill Frist next year.

While this may very well mean the loss of a Ford's congressional seat in Tennessee, the Senate seems like a bigger fish to fry right now and this presents a very encouraging opportunity for us to take back a seat from the Republicans.

Very good to hear as we begin looking toward 2006.
