Bless The Washington Post

I just love The Washington Post.

Just when I'm starting to get discouraged with the shortness of the mainstream media's attention span, the Post runs as its top story today, yet more evidence that the White House had to have known Valerie Plame was a covert CIA operative when her identity was intentionally divulged.

This story contains information about a classified State Department document – being used in the federal investigation into the leak of Plame's identity by Karl Rove – that makes it clear to anyone reading it that Valerie Plame was an undercover officer.

It's also clear that the White House saw the memo.

The article also reinforces that Vice President Cheney's chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby also spilled Plame's identity to the press.

(Gratuitous aside: Any grown man who goes by the name “Scooter” needs to be prosecuted for that alone.)

As smokescreen professionals, it's got to discourage the hell out of President Bush and Rove that they got so little mileage out of the rush to name John Roberts to the Supreme Court.
